Outdoors, GPS allows you to easily find your location from the map application.
But what about indoor and underground shopping malls that cannot be reached by GPS?
It will be very convenient if you can know where you are and find information
in a nearby store as if you are on the ground even indoors.

Did you know how to find your position indoors?
One way to determine your current location is to use multiple sensors on a smartphone.
By using invisible radio waves and atmospheric pressure in underground space,
this is an excellent technique for finding your current location.
The technology is improving every day in the world and Japan.

In the “Shinjuku Station NAVIPO” project,
we are trying to experiment with indoor guidance APP so that people at Shinjuku Station,
which has the largest number of passengers in the world, can travel more smoothly.

Regarding Open Data

Last year in Tokyo, mainly for indoor spaces such as the underground shopping area of Shinjuku Station,
we released the "station guidance route coordinate data" that allows the movement route between ticket gates
to be displayed on the map, and as open data.
This "station guidance route coordinate data" includes "standard route data" and
"stairs avoidance route" for wheelchair and stroller users.
Please check the following for details.

What is open data?

Open data refers to any of the public and private data owned by the central government, local governments, and enterprises in order to allow anyone to easily use it (processing, editing, republishing, etc.) via the Internet. The following forms are all open data.
